That bowl looks nice. I still have to skate the weird-ass park here in Centralia (I know Josh likes it at least) it’s finally dry so I’ll have to go flail at it. When you guys are done improving Benton County OR come improve Lewis County WA. The streets in my neighborhood are old and rough for my wheels I need to get some soft ones. Hope Corvallis is still cool.

i say make a smaller shred bowl first, this seems expensive and huge, plus getting speed from the far wall to the shallow LOOKS far but i could be wrong, make a “666″ style bowl but more skate friendly and bigger. that seems like a lot of concrete with a lot of money needed at once. just look @ lincoln city they have had many phases and are still going to keep going, if you could get a huge piece of land from the city and start with a bowl like lincoln city size, THEN make the pier park style bug bowl…. rock n roll. love high school girls.

If there was room for 2 pools then yes, go for a small one first. However, since there probably isn’t, why not go for one awesome pool? If the resources don’t come together, then consider a smaller pool. There is nothing like a deep bowl with large tranny.

  8. You are right that the size of the bowl may limited by how much money we can raise. If we go for a cheaper and smaller bowl, however, we still have to get through the city process so it will not necessarily speed things up. Our approach will be flexible so we will be able to adapt our plan to how much money we have when we get the city approvals. As for the cost we simply used the cost per square foot for other Oregon Skateparks as a basis for our estimate. This bowl may not be as expensive as it looks if we get lots of material donated and we will work hard to make the donations come in. Love seats, death boxes, lights and bbq’s are all still on the table so keep sending in your comments, we are listening.

  9. Like Lincoln City, The BCSA plans to build in phases: The big bowl is the first phase; improving the currant skate park (e.g. added transition walls, stair rails, bbqs, etc) is the second phase or part of multiple phases. When the designated skatepark area is filled up, then later phases might take place at other parks in Corvallis.

  10. That design has something for everyone. I think that shallow is 4 foot, the mid is 5-7 foot. Try to get at least 18″ of vert in the 10 foot deep end and you’ll really have something. Oh, the tile at Pier and LC3 is a nice feature. Kind of a warning track, and feedback for a skater working his way up to the coping.

  11. Danimal says:

tile is a great idea mc, i vote for tile.

  12. colinwalshrules says:

Tile is the shit, i like how LC has almost a foot of it, you have my vote.

i thought chris james was part of the BCSA. but he has no picture or profile..did he get the axe? I heard he is a celebrity in the skateboard world, wouldn’t that be a good asset to have?
